Raphael Ravenscroft

British musician who played saxophone (and sometimes French horn and winds) for artists ranging from Marvin Gaye (#2) to Pink Floyd (#11), but will likely be remembered best for just one song -- Gerry Rafferty (#11)'s late '70s mega-hit "Baker Street," on which he played what was probably the most well-known saxophone part in an entire decade of popular music.

Born: June 4th 1954, Dumfries, Scotland, UK.
Died: October 19th 2014 at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, aged 60, of a suspected heart attack. He had suffered a stroke months earlier. He lived in Exeter.
